Senior Oracle Database Administrator - Sydney

Skills/Qualifications:
Required - Minimum 6+ years experience as an Oracle DBA
- Oracle Clustering RAC
- Oracle Database 10g – 11g
- Experience with large databases
- Excellent communication skills
- Although not an absolute requirement but experience with Oracle Application Server would be a bonus
Desirable - Oracle Certified – OCP or OCA
- Design experience for data warehouses
- Talent at diagnosing and remedying serious server related problems and failures promptly and effectively
- Exposure to monitoring system like Nagios and Oracle Grid Manager
Responsibilities Include: - Research new technologies and present recommendations and justifications
- Responsible for Schema and pl/SQL development
- Responsible for providing day-to-day support and maintenance for the Oracle database
- Responsible for investigating and solving actual and/or potential problems and issues raised by internal or external stakeholders/business users, this includes being on an on-call
- Monitor database events and proactively optimise system performance
- Automate reactive procedures where possible and promote rapid response to known issues
- Work with other teams to promote changes to production and other environments
- Works in conjunction with other IT, application development and business groups and researches to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security and integration requirements from the database perspective
- Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the database architecture and the general functionality used to maintain data integrity
- Management of Oracle Grid environment
- Ensure that all projects and procedures are documented
- Mentoring of team members
- Comfortable working in a dynamic team environment
