Which digital channels does Traction support?
Outbound: With Traction you can send email, SMS, and WAP (mobile content) blasts to your subscriber lists.
Inbound: Your customers can interact with you on websites, mobile sites, via SMS text messaging. Any other digital channel, such as IVR, touch-tone

Do I need to install anything?
No. Traction is a totally hosted service, accessible from anywhere.

What about direct mail?
Yes. You can use Traction to manage your direct mail lists, and export the details to a text file for mail merging or providing to a mail house. You can also accept incoming postal mail such as competition entry cards.

What about fax?
Yes. You can manage your fax subscriptions in the same way as direct mail (see above), or there are email-to-fax services available that let you store your fax customers as a faxable email address.

I have more than one newsletter. Can Traction support this?
Yes. Traction’s subscription model allows any number of individual subscription channels to run simultaneously. A single customer can be subscribed to any combination of them.

What happens if a customer wants to unsubscribe from one of my newsletters?
Traction has out-of-the-box unsubscribe functionality for email and SMS newsletters. With a single email click, or by texting a pre-defined keyword via SMS, your customer is instantly unsubscribed from that particular subscription. All other subscriptions remain untouched. You can also completely customise the subscribe/unsubscribe process via a comprehensive API suite.
You can even use different channels to control subscription, e.g. texting your email address via SMS to join a list, using a website to join an SMS subscription, etc.

Can Traction manage my customer profiles?
Yes. Traction provides an on-the-fly customisable database structure that lets you store unlimited numbers of customers. You can manage your customer lists via the Traction interface, via list uploads, or you can integrate any number of websites to let your customers register and update their details and subscription choices.

I store my customers in my own CRM system. Can Traction use this system instead of its own database?
Yes. Traction has automated list import and export capabilities that allow you to keep Traction and your CRM in sync.

Can Traction track customer activity on my websites?
Yes. Traction allows you to record key events on your websites, such as online purchases (or purchase attempts), requests for info, and visits to key pages. Likewise, you can record offline activities such as support calls and event attendances.

Can I use Traction’s data to personalise websites?
Yes. You can query your customer data at any time using the API and personalise websites and microsites, or you can pass key information via a personalised email link when the customer clicks through to your site.

Can I link Traction with my content management system (CMS)?
Yes. Traction has several ways of reading content from a CMS, including an inbuilt RSS reader. Content can be included in email and SMS broadcasts.

What about mobile sites?
Yes. A mobile site is just a website, so Traction can work just as well with either. You can send mobile sites to a customer’s phone using SMS or WAP links.

Which languages do you support?
Traction allows customer data to be stored in the majority of the world’s languages, and is fully UTF-8 compliant.
